More and more people are now drinking coffee every single day. Just the aroma of coffee makes the individual feel refreshed and calms the nerves. The demand in the coffee is increasing in number that is why lots of coffee maker designs are coming out in the market today. One of which is the stove-top coffee makers. Other names for stove-top coffee makers are moka pot, macchinetta, campfire pot, stove-top espresso maker and moka express.

In 1933, Alfonso Bialetti created the first stove top coffee maker and Luigi De Ponti patented it for him. It is used popularly in Europe and in Latin American countries. It comes in different sizes from 1 up to 18 cups. Lots of models and designs are made usually from aluminium and the handles are Bakelite.

The upper chamber is the top portion of the stovetop coffee maker and the bottom chamber is the central column that runs from the top to the bottom chamber. The center of the top and bottom chambers are called funnel filter and it consist of a rubber seal and filter plate. The steam release valve or the overpressure plug is found at the right side under the bottom chamber. Pressure is being generated by stove-top coffee maker through heat that forces water through the grounds of the coffee into serving chamber.
